SAN FRANCISCO -- A 10-year-old girl was killed early Saturday morning as a raging two-alarm fire spread through an apartment building on Treasure Island.
Two firefighters suffered non-life threatening injured when a second-story floor collapsed beneath them during their rescue efforts. One firefighter was taken to a hospital, and one was checked and released at the scene.
The fire was reported about 12:15 a.m. at an apartment building in the 1200 block of Mariner Drive, according to Assistant Chief Dave Franklin of the San Francisco Fire Department. Multiple callers told 911 dispatchers while crews were en route that people might still have been trapped inside the building, Franklin said.
