"Sometimes Twitter is awesome, like tonight," Scott Van Pelt said as he introduced this highlight of Owen Groesser on "Sportscenter" on Wednesday night
Groesser, an eighth grader with Down Syndrome, became a sudden social media star after sinking two three-point shots for a Van Hoosen junior high basketball team in Rochester, Mich. As first reported by WXYZ-7 in Detroit, Groesser had not played all season long before his coach drew up a play for him in the team's final game.
"He's got a good shot," Groesser's dad, Chris, told the Detroit Free Press. "I wasn't shocked but I was definitely thrilled. It was a big day for him."
